Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin yesterday held a number of bilateral meetings in Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat, on the sidelines of the 20th European Union-Central Asia Ministerial meeting, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

Sirojiddin Muhriddin and his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredow reportedly discussed topical issues of the cooperation between the two countries in various fields as well as exchanged views on the continuation of mutually beneficial partnerships.

The two discussed the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level in recent years and the adoption of further steps within the framework of the strategic partnership.

The top Tajik diplomat yesterday also held a meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms. Kaja Kallas, on the margins of the 20th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Central Asia’s nations and the European Union in Ashgabat.

During the meeting, the parties reportedly commended the current positive dynamics of the multifaceted partnership between Dushanbe and Brussels and discussed a wide range of issues being of mutual interest, including the production of green energy and development of sustainable transport corridors, advancement of digital connectivity, improvement of the agricultural sector and the education system, as well as matters of security and provision of assistance aimed at strengthening borders. Countering current threats and challenges, as well as prospects for joint implementation of specific hydropower projects comprised an important part of the talks.
