This year, Dushanbe City Day, celebrated annually on the third Saturday of April, falls on April 19.

The main concert and cultural program dedicated to this day will take place at the Kokhi Suroush concert hall at 13:00, an official source within the Dushanbe Culture Department told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Before the concert, the winners of the city's competitions will be awarded at the same venue.

As clarified by the department, the results of competitions in the fields of healthcare and education in Dushanbe will be announced in a festive setting.  These include "Hospital of the Year," "Primary Healthcare Institution of the Year," "Doctor of the Year," "Family Doctor of the Year," "Mid-level Healthcare Worker of the Year," "Mentor of the Year," "Teacher of the Year," "Student of the Year," "Chairman's Scholarship of Dushanbe," and others.

The winners will be honored with awards from the Executive Body of State Power of Dushanbe.

After the award ceremony, there will be a cultural program featuring performances by well-known musical and dance groups, as well as popular pop artists.

In the four districts of the city, especially in Dushanbe's cultural and recreational parks, festive evenings and cultural-sports events will take place before April 19 in honor of City Day.

Slogans and banners praising the capital are already displayed on the streets and squares of the city.

Also, on April 19, the traditional international half-marathon will be held, with athletes from Tajikistan and other countries participating.  The 21 km 97.5 m race will start from the highway near Navrouzgoh and finish at the Dousti Square near the Somoni monument.

Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali has allocated more than 590,000 somonis from the Capital Development Fund for organizing the event.

It is worth noting that, according to the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Holidays," since March 1, 2005, City Day has been celebrated annually on the third Saturday of April.
