France will increase the number of quotas for Tajik students in its universities from 50 to 150, according to the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan.

The issue was discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Education and Science, Rahim Saidzoda, and French Senator Samantha Kazbon.  The parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of education, science, and cultural exchange between the two countries.

Samantha Kazbon reportedly noted that currently, 50 students from Tajikistan are studying in France, and the French side is ready to increase the number of quotas to 150. She also mentioned that France would send volunteer teachers to Tajik universities where French is taught.

Additionally, there is consideration to establish a French language study center in Tajikistan, which would allow Tajik youth to undergo teaching practice in France.

Minister Saidzoda emphasized that the senator's visit confirms the deepening of bilateral relations in these areas and highlighted the importance of the partnership between Tajikistan and France, which is based on the Agreement on Cultural, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation signed on August 4, 2003.

Currently, French language courses are offered at five universities in Tajikistan, where 557 students are undergoing language training.

The parties also discussed the participation of Tajik teachers in international educational projects such as TEMPUS, gSmart, UNIWORK, INTERASIA, gSmart – Spatial ICT Infrastructures for Smart Places, and others.

During the negotiations, they also addressed the expansion and strengthening of inter-university ties between Tajikistan and France.
