In Rasht district, the construction of new homes for families whose houses were completely destroyed in the earthquake on April 13 will begin soon, the state-run news agency Khovar reports.

By president’s decree land plots have been allocated to the affected families, where new homes with all necessary living conditions will be built.  Work on the distribution of land and preparation for construction has already started.

Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda on April 21 visited the area, where 34 houses were destroyed by the earthquake, to assess the progress of the recovery efforts.

During a meeting with the quake-affected people, it was emphasized that all destroyed homes would be rebuilt with funding from the government of Tajikistan, alongside contributions from entrepreneurs and other interested parties.

For families whose homes were completely destroyed, four-room houses will be built, and for families with partially damaged homes, two-room houses will be constructed.

In the new areas where the homes will be built, all necessary infrastructures will be provided, including schools, kindergartens, medical centers, water supply, electricity, stores, and other essential living conditions.

Currently, work is underway in the district to restore infrastructure, agricultural plots, and social sector facilities.

As a result of the earthquake on April 13 in the Rasht district, 34 houses were destroyed completely, 72 houses sustained partial damage, and 89 houses received minor damage.  Additionally, 65 business-related facilities were damaged, including schools, medical institutions, and other objects.

Qohir Rasoulzoda also visited the Tojikobod district on Monday to assess the earthquake recovery efforts.  In Tojikobod, 33 residential houses were destroyed completely by the disaster, 123 houses were damaged partially, and 97 other houses sustained minor damage.  Seventy-five auxiliary buildings were also affected in the district.
