Over 5.4 million cashless transactions totaling 846.8 million somonis (equivalent to more than US$81 million) have been conducted in Tajikistan over the first three months of this year, according to the press service of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

The number of such transactions increased by 28% compared to the same period last year, while the transaction volume grew by 50.3%.

The financial regulator emphasized that over the past four years, the number of transactions conducted via electronic wallets has grown by 73%—from 10.7 million somonis in 2020 to 18.5 million somonis in 2024.

Meanwhile, the total transaction amount rose nearly 5.5 times—from 543 million somonis in 2020 to 2.967 billion somonis in 2024.

According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, the total number of electronic wallets issued by credit institutions reached approximately 12.7 million by the end of March this year—32.8% more than in the same period of 2024.
