On Tuesday, June 3, President Emomali Rahmon, together with Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali, inspected the construction progress of the national teahouse and the new stadium in the capital city, the president’s official website reports.

The three-story national teahouse, located on Hofiz Sherozi Avenue, is 80% complete.  The building will feature spacious halls decorated with traditional carvings, an open terrace, and VIP reception rooms.

During the visit, the president toured the main hall, planned to be adorned with national ornaments.  About 300 workers, mostly locals, are currently involved in plastering and other construction activities.  Once completed, the teahouse is expected to welcome up to 5,000 visitors daily and provide jobs for over 150 locals.  Construction began in 2024 and is scheduled to finish by September 2026.

President Rahmon and Mayor Rustam also visited the National Stadium construction site, a 9.5-hectare complex with a seating capacity of over 30,000.  Works underway include ground leveling, installation of metal structures, electrical and internet wiring, plumbing, heating, air purification, and interior finishing.

The stadium will feature 45 work offices, a conference hall, 36 VIP boxes, 9 medical stations, 36 cafeterias, and a Tajik football museum built to international standards.  A workforce of 725 specialists and workers is engaged in the project.  The stadium will have 72 television screens for broadcasts and 312 specialized lighting fixtures.

The surrounding area will boast modern landscaping with aluminum panels symbolizing water waves and fountains. To improve fan access, two bridges will be built over the Varzob and Luchob rivers, transforming the site into a modern sports complex.

The stadium’s construction was officially launched on March 15, 2019, by President Rahmon and Mayor Rustam Emomali.
