Meteorologists in Tajikistan have issued a warning about the potential for local mudflows in the mountainous and foothill regions of the country from June 12 to June 13, as reported by the Tajikistan Hydrometeorological Agency (Hydromet).

"The expected mudflows are due to the precipitation forecasted for the mountainous and foothill zones of the Sughd province (Ayni, Panjakent, Iskanderkul, Shahriston, Devashtich, Istaravshan), districts subordinate to the center (RRP), and the western part of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO)," an official source within Hydromet stated.

The Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan advises the public to avoid staying near water bodies, refrain from fishing or hunting, and to avoid grazing livestock in the mountainous pastures during this period.

In case of emergencies or accidents on the roads, citizens can contact the Emergencies Committee duty officer at the following numbers: 93 880 28 19, 221-91-19, 223-13-11.

The Committee urges people to follow safety precautions and keep track of weather forecasts.

Earlier, Hydromet reported that June 2025 will bring a true summer heat to Tajikistan.  According to forecasts, temperatures will exceed the climate norm by up to 2ºC across most of the country.

Thus, June in Tajikistan is expected to be exceptionally hot, particularly in the southern and valley areas. However, meteorologists also warn that short-term rains, thunderstorms, strong winds, and dust storms may occur on certain days.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions during extreme heat and strong winds.
