Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov is set to make a state visit to Tajikistan later this year, the Kyrgyz president’s press service announced.  Preparations for the high-level visit were a central topic during a bilateral meeting on June 30 in Bishkek between Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev and his Tajik counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin.

The exact date of President Japarov's visit has not yet been disclosed.

During the talks, both ministers discussed a wide range of issues concerning bilateral cooperation, focusing on political, economic, and humanitarian matters.  Special attention was given to the implementation of agreements reached during Tajik President Emomali Rahmon’s state visit to Kyrgyzstan in March 2025.

One of the key points of discussion was the finalization of the demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border—an issue of long-standing importance.  Both sides expressed confidence that resolving border matters would lay the groundwork for lasting regional stability and peace.

The diplomatic meeting coincided with the June 30 session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.  The Tajik delegation, led by Foreign Minister Muhriddin, took part in the event.

At the CSTO gathering, foreign ministers reportedly discussed the organization’s multilateral agenda, including joint responses to emerging security threats.  Key topics included counter-radicalization, anti-terrorism efforts, and cybersecurity, as well as the situation in the Middle East.

Participants signed several documents aimed at strengthening regional security cooperation. The ministers also voiced support for the first phase of the CSTO’s interstate program to bolster the Tajik-Afghan border.

As part of the CSTO meeting, President Japarov met with the attending foreign ministers to discuss urgent regional and international issues, further underlining Kyrgyzstan's active role in shaping regional diplomacy.
