Dushanbe is hosting an exhibition of textile equipment and products from industrial enterprises of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The event, which is held as part of the first International Textile Forum and taking place at the capital’s “EXPO Center”, kicked off yesterday and is running through today.

The forum was initiated by the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies with the support of the Government of Tajikistan.  Its goal is to strengthen cooperative ties between business, government, and the academic community, and to expand international partnerships.

Presidents of both countries attend the exhibition

A day before the official opening, on July 8, the exhibition was visited by the Presidents of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan — Emomali Rahmon and Sadyr Japarov.  They viewed products presented by industrial enterprises from both countries.

What’s on display?

The exhibition has been divided by sectors: light industry, heavy industry, food products, and more.

Kyrgyzstan showcased a wide range of goods, including clothing, food products, and pharmaceuticals. One of the highlights was a helicopter developed by the Transnational Corporation “Shumkar.”  All Kyrgyz-made products are presented in a dedicated section.

The "Shumkar" helicopter is a two-seater helicopter currently being produced in Kyrgyzstan by the Shumkar Transnational Corporation.  It is notable for being one of the first helicopters produced in Kyrgyzstan. The components are sourced from Poland, but the assembly and final product are made domestically.  These helicopters are designed to take off from small spaces and can travel 600 kilometers on 70 liters of fuel, completing the journey in about three hours, according to 24.kg

Tajikistan presented coal and defense industry products, construction materials, locally grown fruits and vegetables, dairy products, textiles and light industry goods, machinery and equipment.

Interest and Cooperation

Companies from both countries actively discussed potential business collaborations during the event. Some guests from Kyrgyzstan filmed videos for social media, introducing their followers to the exhibits. Many products, especially food items, are available for purchase directly at the venue.

According to a representative of one of the participating Tajik companies, such events offer valuable opportunities to establish partnerships, promote Tajik products to international buyers, and — most importantly — renew ties with friendly Kyrgyzstan.
