A Tajik entrepreneur is investing in the construction of a cable manufacturing plant $10 million in the construction of a cable manufacturing plant in Uzbekistan's Fergana region, marking another step forward in regional economic cooperation.  The factory with a total value of 10 million U.S. dollars is expected to be operational by the end of 2025.

Located in the Fergana’s Dangara district, the plant will produce aluminum and copper wire.  The project is a joint venture between Tajik businessman Shuhradjon Ashourmatov and Uzbek businesswoman Fotima Imamova, symbolizing growing economic ties between the neighboring countries.

The factory, named Osiyo Kabellari, is being built on a one-hectare site.  It will manufacture up to 15,000 tons of copper wire and 1,700 tons of aluminum wire annually.  The total value of its output is estimated at around US$21 million based on current exchange rates.

Construction is being funded through direct foreign investment, with the facility expected to create approximately 100 permanent jobs.  A portion of the factory's products will be exported, primarily to Kyrgyzstan and other CIS countries.  Initial export volumes are projected to reach $1 million.

On July 18, Fergana regional governor Khayrullo Bozorov met with the investors to discuss accelerating construction and ensuring timely connection to utilities, including water, gas, and electricity.

This is not the first instance of Tajik investors participating in international industrial ventures.  The cable plant is part of a broader strategy aimed at boosting industrial development in the region and strengthening economic partnerships between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
