At a press conference on July 28, the country's Ministry of Education confirmed the complaints of some teachers about non-receipt of salaries and vacation pay, noting that wages will be fully paid by the end of July. Almost half a month has passed, but teachers in some cities and districts of the country are still complaining about unpaid salaries and vacation pay.

Badriddin Muzaffarzoda, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, said at a press conference that on July 27, the government, under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister, held a meeting on this issue, at which representatives of districts where teachers had not yet received salaries were given strict instructions to ensure payments.

AsiaPlus conducted a survey on social media to find out if this problem has been fixed.

Most commentators reported that their salaries and vacation pay had been paid, but in some schools in cities and regions of the country, the debt has not yet been repaid.

In particular, teachers from Shahritus, Nosiri Khusraw districts, as well as from Vakhdat, Isfara and Khujand stated that they still had not received their salaries or vacation pay.

In particular, one respondent from school No. 44 of the Obshoron jamoat in Shahritus district wrote that neither salary, vacation pay, nor even business trip for advanced training courses had been paid.

"We still haven't received a vacation for July and August. Where should I apply? No one can hear us," wrote another commenter from school No. 9 in the city of Vakhdat.

Some teachers complained about the incomplete payment of salaries and vacation pay.

"The salary and vacation pay were partially paid until the first of August, we are from a remote mountainous region, we underpaid 100 somoni from the salary, and the vacation pay also did not come in full," one of the teachers wrote.

What do the authorities say?

The main directorate of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan for the Khatlon region said that by the end of July this year, all the funds provided to the teachers had been paid.

The Ministry of Education and Science of the country, in response to a question from AsiaPlus, reported that the department had not received any official complaints about non-payment of salaries and vacation pay to teachers.

According to the Ministry, the timely payment of salaries to teachers depends on the local authorities of cities and districts.

Badriddin Muzaffarzoda noted at a press conference that the payment of teachers' salaries "depends on filling the budgets of cities and districts." Nevertheless, the Ministry is dealing with the problem, he assured.

Note that this is not the first time that teachers have expressed concern about unpaid salaries. Previously, they had also repeatedly complained about delays in payments.
