On this day, only students of grades 8-11 and university students need to come to educational institutions. This year's Peace Lesson in Tajikistan, which is usually held annually on September 1, will be held on August 30, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan informed AsiaPlus.

On this day, President Emomali Rahmon will meet with educators at the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan and hold a traditional Peace Lesson.

On August 30, students of grades 8, 9, 10 and 11, as well as students of higher educational institutions, should come to schools and universities and watch the speech of the Head of State on live TV channels. Students in grades 1-7 stay at home on this day.

The school year for all school children and students will begin on Monday, September 1.

The Ministry of Education and Science did not specify the reason for the postponement of the Peace Lesson on August 30. However, according to available information, Emomali Rahmon will be in China on September 1, where he is invited to a meeting of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries.

In Tajikistan, the school year begins every year on September 1, and for the past few years, on this day, the president has met with education workers, talked about achievements and challenges, and set tasks for officials.

So, in 2024, despite the fact that September 1 fell on a Sunday, the meeting with the participation of the president took place on that day. The peace lesson was then held at school No. 19 in the Sino district of the capital.

In his address, the head of state criticized the shortcomings in the field of education and gave officials, including the Minister of Education and Science, a two-year deadline to eliminate them.

The shortage of teachers, the need to renovate schools, the digitalization of the education sector, the shortage of textbooks, the insufficient provision of subject rooms for schools, fundraising from students and attracting students to a meeting of government representatives are some of the most important issues that the President highlighted in his speech.
