A military parade dedicated to the 34th anniversary of independence and the 30th anniversary of the formation of the National Guard of the Republic took place in the capital of Tajikistan today, the presidential press service reports.

Emomali Rahmon congratulated all the servicemen on their anniversary, recalled the importance of protecting independence and peace in the country, and also recalled the merits of the Guard in the formation of statehood.

The parade was attended by more than 5,000 military personnel, including representatives of the Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies, and law enforcement agencies.

Armored vehicles and military vehicles were demonstrated, and combat aircraft were maneuvering in the sky.

The National Guard was established in 1995 as an elite unit for the protection of sovereignty, public order and strategic facilities.

"Today, the National Guard, established by us as a symbol of a new national statehood, taking into account the historical traditions of the Tajik people, has turned into a powerful special-purpose military structure, which, in turn, is one of the most important factors in protecting independence and freedom, the territorial integrity of the country, as well as the security of the state and society," – the president noted.

Emomali Rahmon called on the military and security forces to be an example of professionalism, vigilance and devotion to the Motherland.

The National Guard of the Republic is one of the divisions of the country's Armed Forces, subordinated to the President, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and is considered the reserve force of the head of state.

It was established in January 1995 on the basis of one of the rapid reaction brigades called the Presidential Guard.
