During the Dushanbe Invest–2025 International Investment Forum, Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water Resources signed several key agreements with various companies, aimed at improving the country’s energy security and boosting the development of renewable energy sources.
Among the agreements were three protocols and two memorandums of understanding focused on the construction of solar and wind power plants, as well as educational projects in the energy sector.
One of the main highlights of the forum was the agreement to build solar power plants across various regions of Tajikistan, contributing to the country's transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
Key agreements signed:
- Wuhan Building Material Industry (China) will develop 500 MW solar power plants in Sughd province. This project marks a significant step in increasing the share of solar energy in Tajikistan’s energy mix. The company also offered solutions for gas emissions purification and renewable energy production, having already implemented over 200 production lines worldwide.
- Ayon Energy (Tajikistan) signed a protocol for the construction of 500 MW solar power plants in both Sughd and Khatlon provinces. This agreement emphasizes the critical role of the private sector in advancing eco-friendly energy projects.
- Ejing Technology (China) will be responsible for building 500 MW solar power plants in Khatlon province. This initiative continues the government’s strategy of energy diversification in regions with high solar potential.
- Rosatom Renewable Energy (Russia) signed a memorandum with the Ministry, covering the construction of up to 500 MW of solar power plants in Tajikistan. The agreement also includes plans for training programs and knowledge exchange in the field of renewable energy.
Focus on renewable energy
These projects reflect Tajikistan’s commitment to enhancing its renewable energy capacity, reducing its reliance on traditional energy sources, and promoting environmental sustainability. The country’s vast solar and wind energy potential positions it as an emerging leader in the Central Asian renewable energy market.
The agreements are expected to play a crucial role in increasing the share of clean energy in Tajikistan’s overall energy balance and contribute to the country’s broader environmental goals.
