Sixty women artisans and entrepreneurs from Sughd have been awarded grants totaling 420,000 somonis, according to the press service of the Sughd regional government.

The grants were presented as part of a competition aimed at promoting traditional crafts and supporting women in business, including fields such as weaving, sewing, ceramics, wood carving, and other forms of traditional handcraft.

A total of 105 women submitted their projects for consideration, and 60 were selected. Among the winners, 15 women received grants of 10,000 somonis each, 15 women were awarded 8,000 somonis, and 30 women were granted 5,000 somonis.

Muayassara Mavloni, Deputy Head of the Women and Family Affairs Department in Sughd, noted that in 2025, 39 women from the region were also awarded presidential grants for their submitted projects.

As part of a new initiative by the regional head, starting in 2026, the total amount of the grants will be increased from 420,000 somonis to 560,000 somonis, and grants will be distributed to 80 women.

Introduced in 2010, the Sughd regional grants have supported women artisans for over 15 years, contributing to the development of traditional crafts and the creation of new jobs.

The main goal of these grants is to support and develop craft workshops, create new job opportunities, and expand women's activities in the fields of traditional crafts and entrepreneurship.
