Tajikistan’s GDP for Jan-Nov2012 estimated at some 32.6 bln somoni

DUSHANBE, December 18, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) has risen 7.5 percent in eleven months to December 1, 2012, reaching some 32.6 billion somoni (equivalent to some 6.8 billion U.S. dollars), according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The government expects gross domestic product for this year to stand at 35 billion somoni.  

Meanwhile, inflation for January-November this year stood at 6.3 percent.

Prices for products of food industry have reportedly risen in cost by 5.6 percent over the report period and non-foodstuffs have risen in cost by 6.2 percent over the same eleven-month period.  Prices and rates for services rendered to the population have risen 9.6 percent in January-November this year.

We will recall that in a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Ms. Malohat Kholiqzoda, the deputy chairperson of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), noted on January 19 that the government expects the year-end inflation to stand at 10.5 percent in 2012.
