DUSHANBE, December 18, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The board (Shuro) of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament (Majlisi Oli) has made a decision to organize a hearing on energy infrastructure priorities, implementation of the law on use of renewable energy resources and national long-term program for construction of small hydropower plants designed for 2009-2020 on December 25.

Senior representatives from the ministries of finance as well as energy and industries and Barqi Tojik (Tajik state-owned utility responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity) are expected to report on the current energy situations.

Meanwhile, Shodi Shabdolov, member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on Energy, Industry and Construction also head of the Communist Party (CPT), says they will seriously discuss the state and prospects of development of Tajikistan’s energy sector.

“Our committee is preparing a package of documents and recommendations on enhancement of the country’s energy sector and I believe that ignoring of them by the government may lead to grave consequences,” Shabdolov stressed.
