KHUJAND, December 19, 012, Asia-Plus  — Three persons were killed on December 18 as two vehicles collided in the northern Sughd province, according to the Sughd traffic police department.

The accident reportedly took place yesterday afternoon in the Asht district.  “Avaz Sohibnazarov, 35, could not control his Opel-Vectra and it went into oncoming traffic on the Dousti-Buloq highway and collided with Mercedes driven by Poulod Sharipov, 44,” said the source.  “As a result of the collision, three passengers of Opel-Vectra sustained serious injuries and died on the way to hospital.”

According to the statistical data of the Sughd traffic police directorate, 309 traffic accidents have been registered in the province since the beginning of this year and 134 persons were killed and 338 others were injured in those accidents.
