DUSHANBE, December 24, 2012, Asia-Plus – Social network sites such as “Odnoklassniki” (Russia) and Twitter (an online social networking service and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read text-based messages of up to 140 characters, known as “tweets”) have not be put on the list of website to be blocked in Tajikistan.

Meanwhile, Russian social network sites “Moy Mir” and “Vkontakte” are on the so-called “black list.”

Besides,

www.football.ua

, topvideo.tj (the Tajik version of YouTube),

www.tajrep.tj

, toptj.com,

www.xorpushtak.wordpress.com

and other sites, including the porno ones, are also on this list.

A letter by the communications service agency cited “technical reasons” for blocking access to those websites.

We will recall that according to some sources, the Communications Service under the Government of Tajikistan Friday evening ordered Internet –providers to block access to 131 websites.  It reportedly ordered providers to block mainly the websites posting music and video.

Reports said Facebook, which was blocked at the end of November, was not on the list of sites to be blocked.
