DUSHANBE, February 17, 2013, Asia-Plus – The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) has reported a large drug haul.

According to the SCNS press center, a special operation by the SCNS officers has led to the seizure of more than 138 kilograms of narcotics.

During the operation, the SCNS officers have reportedly arrested 10 persons, including representatives of the law enforcement authorities and border troops.

The operation was carried out in two stages.

On February 10, a Volga sedan was stopped in Sughd province and some 45 kilograms of heroin were found hidden in it.

The second stage of the operation was carried out in Dushanbe on February 12.  94 kilograms of hashish were found in Mercedes with Kyrgyz number plate that was parked in one of garages in Dushanbe’s neighborhood # 33.

In all, ten persons were arrested in the operation.  Among them are Lieutenant-Colonel Nourullo Naimov, a chief operative agent with the Interior Ministry Special Battalion, Captain Jamshed Safarov from Dushanbe’s Sino-1 police station, two border officers Zayniddin Ahmadov and Tojiddin Berdiyev as well as former officer from the SCNS Rahim Ibrohimov (he was fired in 2006), the source said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug traffickers and an investigation is under way.
