DUSHANBE, March 28, Asia-Plus — Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov arrived in Dushanbe on an official visit yesterday evening.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon is receiving visiting Kazakh foreign minister today morning.
Today, Idrisov is also holding talks with his Tajik counterpart Hamrokhon Zarifi.
Meanwhile, Uzbek news agency, UzA, reports that President Islam Karimov met with visiting Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov in Tashkent o March 27.
This meeting was reportedly the first public appearance of Karimov since rumors about his poor health emerged a week ago. He had not appeared in public since March 19, when he was shown on the Uzbek national television dancing during the Navrouz celebrations.
Opposition groups outside Uzbekistan reportedly say he has suffered a heart attack, but Uzbek president’s daughter, Gulnoro Karimova, has denied those reports as baseless.
Islam Karimov, 75, has ruled Uzbekistan since 1989.
