DUSHANBE, May 16, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Over the first four months of this year, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power and natural gas, has amounted to more than 1.6 billion U.S. dollars, which was 98.8 percent of the January-April 2012 level or 19.4 million U.S. dollars fewer, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan. 

The trade balance was negative and amounted to 754 million U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods in January-April this year have amounted to 442 million U.S. dollars, which was 4.8 percent, or 22.3 million U.S. dollars, fewer than in the same period last year.

Imports of goods into the country over the same four-month period have amounted to more than 1.196 billion U.S. dollars, which was 0.2 percent, or 2.9 million U.S. dollars, more than in January-April last year.

In January-April this year, Tajikistan has had relations with 91 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

In January-April 2013, Tajikistan’s major trading partners were: Russia – some 297 million U.S. dollars; Kazakhstan – nearly 219 million U.S. dollars; Turkey – some 216 million U.S. dollars; and China – more than 176 million U.S. dollars, the Agency for Statistics said.
