            DUSHANBE, September 24, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A master class for fifth-year students of the Journalism Department within the Faculty of Philology at Russian-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU) and young inexperienced journalists was held at the Independent School of Journalism “Tajikistan – 21st Century” (School) in Dushanbe on September 24.

The master class is the first of a series of trainings that will be held at the School every week through the academic year.

The master class was conducted by Mr. Hulkar Yusupov, head of the Monitoring and Analysis Service within the News Agency Asia-Plus, and its participants were trained in how to work with information for preparation of reports and other materials.  The training participants discussed and analyzed reports and articles prepared by them for print media.   

The training was attended by media program coordinators from a number of international organizations active in Tajikistan.       

 The training participants may use computers and other equipment of the School for preparation of their materials.  Besides, they will also visit different media to familiarize themselves with their activities.  

Established in June 1999, the Independent School of Journalism “Tajikistan – 21st Century” aims to promote improvement of professionalism of journalists, development of Tajikistan’s information market, ad strengthening of competitiveness of media.  Over the period of its activity, the School has implemented some 20 projects, including “Tajikistan’s Journalism in New Century”, “Management in Media”, “Journalistic Resource Center” as well as the cross-border project “Tajikistan-Afghanistan: Bridges of Friendship”, etc.   As part of the projects, the School has conducted seminars, trainings and training courses on raising professionalism of journalists, instructing media personnel in modern methods of management and marketing, information and computer technologies, norms of journalistic ethics, etc.
