Uzbekistan implements digital residency registration system

It will be possible to process it online through Face-ID.

In Uzbekistan, the registration system is being transitioned to a modern digital format, making it simpler, faster, and more transparent to arrange a residence permit or temporary stay, according to CentralAsia.

Now, the property owner and the person planning to register no longer need to personally visit to confirm consent. Identification and confirmation of both parties will be conducted remotely through biometric systems like Face-ID or Mobile-ID.

According to the new rules approved on May 5, a citizen is required to arrange registration within 10 working days after moving. The responsibility for notifying the authorities about occupancy is now also placed on the property owner. For owners of multiple properties, it is specified that permanent registration is allowed at only one address.

Certain regulations are aimed at protecting family and property rights. Minors will be registered at the place of residence of their parents or guardians without the consent of the property owner. However, registration does not grant any property rights to the individual — it merely confirms the place of residence.

Citizens are still given the opportunity to choose a convenient method for registration. Documents can be submitted online through the EPIGU portal and the E-xabar berish system, or in person — through public service centers, “Smart Migration” points, and other authorized agencies.
