Dushanbe. 20 August. “Asia-Plus” –  Today the high level International Conference in Water Resources opened in “Kakh-i Saman” government residence.

The President of Tajikistan, Emamali Rahman, will make a greeting speech in the opening ceremony, which will last until 11 o”clock. High level plenary meeting will be held after that on such issues, such as “Water Cooperation for Human Development,” Water Cooperation for Economic Advantage,” “Water Cooperation for Ecosystem,” and “Trans-Border Water Cooperation.”


The last day of the Conference will be held on Wednesday, August 21.

Over seventy UN member-states are taking part in the Conference. Prime-ministers, ministers, and other high level officials are heading the delegations.

The UN system is represented by seven deputies of the UN General Secretary, including the heads of UNESCO, UNDP, European Economic Commission, World Metal Organization, the World Bank, and others.

Heads and representatives of such international and regional organizations, such as CIS, OSCE, SCO, OIC, ECO! Energy Charter Treaty, World Water Forum, etc.

The number of Conference participants is above 900,
