Dushanbe. 21 August. “Asia-Plus” – President of Tajikistan, Emamali Rahman, met with the UNESCO General-Secretary, Irina Bokova yesterday.

According to the President’s press office, the head of UNESCO awarded Mr. Rahman the “60 Years of UNESCO” medal for his role in the establishment of peace and harmony, country’s development, and initiative in the dialogue development on water issues.

Tajik President noted that he accepts it as a sign of merit of the country’s people, which have an ancient culture, who have contributed to the establishment of foundations of new Tajik statehood.

According to the information, the parties expressed satisfaction with the UNESCO International Symposium of “Shahshmaqam” Classical Music Singers, 1150 Years of Rudaki, founder of Tajik-Persian literature, including Sarazm into UNESCO world heritage list, including the National Park of Tajikistan into UNESCO world natural heritage list.

The parties also expressed confidence that other initiatives by Tajikistan, such as education of UNESCO international foundation to save glaciers of Tajikistan, including 3000 years of Hissar into UNESCO list in 2015, will be supported.
