Dushanbe. 21 August. “Asia-Plus” –Well-known businessman, Zayd Saidov’s lawyers’ petition for DNA analysis to establish paternity of the child, whose mother accused Mr. Saidov of rape, has been left unanswered.

As Ishaq Tabarov, the defendant’s lawyer, told Asia-Plus, defense has still not received a reply to the petition submitted to the investigative body in the beginning of August.

Mr. Tabarov said: “They have not responded to our petition and have held only a biological analysis in Tajikistan. However, such an analysis cannot establish paternity; it will only determine the similarity in blood type.”

According to him, review of Zayd Saidov’s case has been complete and perhaps it will be sent to the General Prosecutor’s Office as early as tomorrow for further review. Mr. Tabarov noted: “We insisted on DNA analysis, but unfortunately this critical analysis has not been held after all.”

Mr. Saidov’s lawyer said earlier in an interview to Asia-Plus that the case should not reach court without such an analysis. DNA analysis is not conducted in Tajikistan. Therefore the defense was willing to take all costs on itself to conduct it abroad. Mr. Tabarov had also said before that the analysis will possibly be held in Germany, where he supposed it to cost approximately a thousand US Dollars.
