Dushanbe. 21 August. “Asia-Plus” – Agreement between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation on the order of stay of Tajik citizens in Russia was reviewed in today’s session of the council of lower house of Tajik parliament.
Spokesperson of Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament, Muhammadata Sultanov, told Asia-Plus that the agreement was signed by heads of migration services of Tajikistan and Russia on February 8 based on the two country’s government instructions.
Mr. Sultanov noted: “Based on this document Tajik citizens, who are temporarily residing in the Russian Federation do not have to register with the relevant state bodies until 15 days. Currently registration deadline is 7 days.”
According to him, the council of the lower house of parliament decided that the Agreement will first be reviewed by relevant committees and commissions within the house, and its ratification is expected in October.
It should be reminded that Tajik President, Emamali Rahman, during his visit to Russia in the beginning of August, stated that the agreement on the stay of the 201st Russian Military Base in Tajikistan, signed during Russian President, Vladimir Putin’s visit to Dushanbe in October, will be ratified in October 2013.
Tajikistan did not hurry to ratify the abovementioned agreement by pressuring Moscow on speedy implementation of agreements on migration, duty-free oil, as well as aid in modernizing the Tajik army.
The source said: “The Council also reviewed the issues of amending the laws of Tajikistan on State Budget of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2013, on Banking Activities, on Licensing Individual Activities, on State Finances of the Republic of Tajikistan, on Natural Monopolies in its today’s session.”
