21 August. “Asia-Plus” – Nikolay Nikolaev, Umarali Quvvatov’s lawyer, writes on his Facebook page that assertion about “Group 24” opposition movement’s leader extradition is not confirmed as of yet. The Dubai court reviewed the appeal on sanction of 18 August to extradite Mr. Quvvatov.

According to Mr. Nikolaev, court ruling has not been announced and is not available. The lawyer writes: “However, Quvvatov’s brother, Anvar, is knowingly spreading false rumors about the supposed court ruling on extradition of “Group 24” leader. Particularly upsetting is the fact that situation confusion with Umarali Quvvatov is being done by those close to him. His brother, Anvar, is knowingly spreading false rumors.”

Mr. Nikolaev also explains that he was not present during the Dubai hearings due to objective reasons – visa system between the Russian Federation and the UAE, and therefore “one can only fortune tell and presume about Umarali, and fortunetelling on coffee is not a worthy job, and therefore there is a widespread nervousness and various guesses and presumptions.”

Mr. Nikolaev told during his interview to Asia-Plus that court ruling on extradition has not been announced yet. Mr. Nikolaev said: “We are trying to find out now the real situation and it is important that his rights for defense from illegal actions of law-enforcers, torture and use of psychotropic substances. You know, I don’t have admission right now, since court ruling is not given on hand. Arab lawyers, who worked on the case, also cannot receive information on the ruling; it seems that it is classified.”

To the question of why Quvvatov’s brother claims that the ruling on his extradition has been given out, Mr. Nikolaev answered: “I think he is deliberately lying! Let the motives be on his conscience.”
