DUSHANBE, November 17, Asia-Plus – One schoolboy has been killed and another one has been injured as a hand grenade exploded on the outskirts of Dushanbe.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the incident took place in the territory of the State Farm Varzob, in the south part of Dushanbe not far away of the compound of the Russian military base, at 5:00 p.m.

A source at a MoI said that according to the preliminary investigation, the schoolboys – eighth-form pupil Sherzod Qurbonov and ninth-form pupil Mahmadjon Khojayev from school # 91 – found the grenade in the dump.  The explosion appeared to have occurred after boys tried to open up the grenade.  As a result of the explosion, Sherzod died on the spot and Mahmadjon sustained serious wounds and was taken to the hospital of the Russian military base.

The cause of the incident is under investigation, the source said.
