KHUJAND, October 16, 2013, Asia-Plus — A Sughd resident has been detained with than two kilograms of narcotics.

According t the Interior Ministry’s office n Sughd, the 57-year-old resident of the Mastchoh district, M.H., was detained on October 16 on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.

1.32 kilograms of raw opium and 980 grams of hashish were confiscated narcotics were confiscated from him, the source said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug peddler under the provisions of Article 200 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – drug trafficking; an investigation is under way.

According to the statistical data from the Tajik drug control agency’s office in Sughd, local law enforcement agencies have seized 757.126 kilograms of narcotics over the first eight months of this year.
