DUSHANBE, September 5, 2008, Asia-Plus — On September 4, Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi held talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on sidelines of a regular session of the council of foreign ministers of member nations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) that was held in Moscow the same day, according to the Tajik MFA.
In the course of talks, the two considered a broad range of issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.
According to the MFA information department head Davlat Nazriyev, Zarifi and Lavrov, in particular, discussed ways to speed up implementation of agreements on participation of Russia in the hydroelectricity projects in Tajikistan that had been reached during Russian President Medvedev’s visit to Tajikistan.
“The ministers also touched upon issues related to state of Tajik labor migrants working in Russia,” the MFA spokesman said.
