DUSHANBE, November 1, 2013, Asia-Plus – Migrants having previous convictions now may be banned from working in Russia.
Polit.ru reports that MP Igor Igoshin, representing the ruling United Russia in the State Duma (Russia’s lower chamber of parliament), has submitted appropriate amendments proposed to the RF Law “On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation” for consideration to the State Duma.
According to the statistical data of the Federal Migration Service (FMS), more than 10,000 foreign citizens are serving their terms in Russian penal colonies and deportation orders have been issued against only ten of them (0.1 percent), Igoshin said. “This quite often leads to unfortunate results,” Russian MP added.
The State Duma Deputy Speaker, Vladimir Vasilyev said earlier that more than 30,000 migrants workers have been deported from Russian this year for violation of the country’s migration legislation.
United Russia is the current ruling centrist party in Russia. It is the largest party in the country, currently holding 238 (or 52.89%) of the 450 seats in Russia’s lower house (State Duma) of parliament.
