DUSHANBE, November 8, 2013, Asia-Plus — Tajik government is expected to tender its resignation to President Emomali Rahmon, who was reelected for a fourth consecutive term on November 6, in late November.
The government will resign after the Tajikistan’s Presidential Inauguration swearing-in ceremony that will take place on November 16.
Under the constitution, all cabinet ministers will continue fulfilling their duties until a new government is formed.
The president, who is directly elected, is both the head of state and the head of government. The president appoints the prime minister and all the members of the government, with parliamentary approval. Tajikistan is thus a presidential republic.
