DUSHANBE, November 8, 2013, Asia-Plus — Azeri, Iranian and Turkmen presidents have congratulated Emomali Rahmon on his reelection as President of Tajikistan, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, in particular noted in his cable of congratulations that Rahmon’s landslide victory in the November 6 presidential election was evidence of high confidence of the people of Tajikistan in him and his policy aimed at strengthening of independence and sovereignty of the country and development of democracy and rule of law.

In his message on Thursday, the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Rahmon’s re-election would create an opportunity for Iranian and Tajik officials to implement the plans already agreed upon by both sides.

Iranian president reportedly expressed hope that Iran and Tajikistan would further expand their relations in line with mutual interests and would witness the promotion of regional and international peace and security.

Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamdeov wished President Emomali Rahmon health and success “at this highest state post for progress and prosperity of friendly people of Tajikistan,” the president’s website said
