37 Tajiks wanted by DCA for drug trafficking

DUSHANBE December 12, Asia-Plus — 37 citizens of Tajikistan aged 21 to 55  are wanted by Tajikistan’s Drug Control Agency (DCA) on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking, press service of the country’s counternarcotics agency said.  

A source at the counternarcotics agency said that according to information received, some of them are currently staying in the territory of the Russian Federation.  “Since the beginning of the year, three persons wanted by the DCA for drug-trafficking crimes committed in Tajikistan have been detained in Russia and extradited to Tajikistan,” the source said, adding that six other wanted drug dealers have been detained in Tajikistan this year.  “Cases against three other persons have been dropped.” 

Officers from the Tajik counternarcotics agency have seized some 1,242.5 kilograms of drugs since the beginning of the year, according to DCA press service.  The totaled included more than 470 kilograms of heroin, 521.7 kilograms of raw opium and 250.4 kilograms of cannabis.
