DUSHANBE, December 20, 2013, Asia-Plus — The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) reports that Tajikistan saw bank deposits grow by 18.8 percent in a year to November 30, 2013 to some 5.6 billion somoni, reflecting the expanding economy and rising public confidence in the banking sector.

According to data of Tajik central bank, individual deposits have reached more than 3.5 billion somoni (64.5 percent) and corporate deposits have reached more than 1.9 billion somoni (35.7 percent).

Local currency deposits reportedly carry a weighted average interest rate of 15.83 percent at the moment versus 11.62 percent for foreign currencies.
