DUSHANBE, August 22, 2008, Asia-Plus — Farmers from the Khatlon province will organize a farm produce fair in Dushanbe next week.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, farmers from northern Tajikistan realized more than 130 tons of agricultural goods in Dushanbe on August 15-16. The fair of the Sughd farmers was organized on Dushanbe’s Qariyai Bolo market. The Sughd farmers realized wheat flour, meat, rise and various vegetables at prices 20%-30% lower than the current prices of the Dushanbe markets.
It is to be noted that farmers from the Vahdat district, some 17 kilometers to the east of Dushanbe, also delivered 384 tons of farm produce to the capital city last week. Their agricultural goods were realized in 14 mahalla (community) of Dushanbe as well as on the Barakat and Shohmansour markets.
