DUSHANBE, August 22, 2008, Asia-Plus  —  In an unofficial team championship, Tajikistan with two medals, on bronze and one silver, has been ranked 57th along with Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Algeria and Columbia among 80 countries that have won medals in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.  

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Narzullo Latifov, president of the Association of Sports reporters of Tajikistan, said that our athletes are currently preparing for participation at a ceremony of an official closure of the XXIX Summer Olympic Games that will be held in Beijing on August 24.  

We will recall that freestyle wrestler Yusuf Abdusalomov (-84 kg) won the silver medal and judoka Rasoul Boqiyev won the bronze medal in the -73 kg category.  Besides, two Tajik boxers, Jahon Qurbonov (-81 kg) and Anvar Yunusov (-51 kg), were among top five boxers in their weight categories in the 2008 Summer Olympics.
