Dushanbe to host CIS intelligentsia forum in September

DUSHANBE, August 18, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The third forum of the creative and scientific intelligentsia of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is due in Dushanbe on September 18-20. 

According to the Ministry of Education (MoE), the forum is dedicated to continue dialogue on the most topical issues of humanitarian cooperation within the CIS area.  Representatives of the CIS intelligentsia are expected to address one of the essential matters – national languages and national literature of the CIS countries.    

The source at a MoE said the forum participants will also discuss the problem of translation, which presents itself not only in business correspondence but also in belles letters.  The CIS experts note that still there is shortage of translators from the languages of the CIS states.

Meetings of young researchers working in exact and natural sciences are supposed to be held on sidelines of the forum.  

Besides, practical matters of organizing education within the CIS area will be discussed at the forum.   

The third forum of the creative and scientific intelligentsia of the CIS countries will be held in Tajikistan in the days of celebration of the 1150th birth anniversary of founder of Tajik-Persian classical literature Abu Abdullo Roudaki.  

The forum will be attended by heads of executive bodies of the CIS, the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), UNESCO Director General Koпchiro Matsuura, members of the International Fund for humanitarian Cooperation, representatives of cultural and educational circles of the CIS states, and media, the MoE source said.    

 We will recall that the second forum of the creative and scientific intelligentsia of the CIS countries was held in Astana, Kazakhstan on November 12-13 2007.
