DUSHANBE, August 14, 2008, Asia-Plus  – Afghan national Habibullo valadi Husein and Tajik national, student at Tajik National University, have been detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking, according to the Drug Control Agency (DCA).

Operation carried out by officers from the counternarcotics agency on August 12 led to the arrest of the mentioned persons in one of districts of Dushanbe.  A package of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing some 7 kilograms was confiscated from the Afghan national.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the alleged drug peddlers under the provisions of Article 200 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – trafficking in narcotics or psychotropic substances, and an investigation is under way.
