DUSHANBE, March 7, 2014, Asia-Plus – Fakhriddin Zokirov, who is one of defense lawyers of Tajik tycoon Zayd Saidov, was arrested in Dushanbe overnight by officers from the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption, Zokirov’s colleague Shuhrat Qudratov told Asia-Plus today morning.
According to him, Fakhriddin Zokirov is currently in the building of the anticorruption agency and faces charge of fraud (Article 247 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code). “The anticorruption officers intend to obtain the warrant for his arrest today,” Qudratov said.
“We are sure that the actual reason for the arrest of Fakhriddin Zokirov is his active position on defending Zayd Saidov,” the lawyer added.
