DUSHANBE, March 28, 2014, Asia-Plus – Dushanbe resident Shavkat Rahmonov, 74, has tried to commit suicide by self-immolation near the building of President’s Executive Office.

According to the police, Shavkat Rahmonov tried to set himself on fire following family quarrel.  He was shifted to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing medical treatment.

The incident took place Thursday morning at 10:10 am near the “Varzish” (Sporting Accessories) shop, the Interior Ministry’s website reports.

Shavkat Rahmonov reportedly tried to kill himself following family conflict that arose after partition of dwelling house.

By court’s decision the apartment was divided equally between Shavkat Rahmonov and his daughter Niloufar Rahmonova, 40.
