DUSHANBE, May 6, 2014, Asia-Plus — On Tuesday May 6, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, who is on an official visit to Tajikistan, got acquainted with the pace of construction of the Takhti Navrouz (Throne of Navrouz) Cultural and Entertainment Center in Dushanbe.

The opening of the center is scheduled to coincide with Tajikistan’s Independence Day in September this year.

Earlier it had been informed that this beautiful multidome structure with hand-carved designs in wood will be the world’s largest chaikhana (teahouse) for more than 2,000 people.   

We will recall that an article entitled “Lots of Personality: Central Asia”s Vanity Projects” that was posted on Radio Liberty’s website on July 9, 2013 notes that the facility has been built at estimated cost of 60 million U.S. dollars.
