Rahmon congratulates Tajik border guards on their professional holiday

DUSHANBE, May 26, 2014, Asia-Plus — On Monday May 26, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon congratulated the staff and veterans of the Main Border Guard Directorate of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) on the Border Guards Day.

Speaking at the parade, Tajik leader congratulated border guards on the Border Guards Day and the 20th anniversary of adopting the decree on the establishment of the border guard service.

Rahmon called on all military servicemen of Tajikistan to courageously and bravely uphold national sacred objects of the Tajik people.  

According to Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), more than 10,000 servicemen are being on the military parade in Dushanbe today.

Soldiers and officers from the Main Border Guard Directorate, the Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Defense, the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CES) and the National Guard are participating in the parade that is being held in Dousti Square.

Commander of Tajik Border Troops, Lieutenant-General Rajabali Rahmonali, and Commander of the Dushanbe Garrison, Major-General Bakhtiyor Ruzminshoyev, are commanding the parade.

The Main Border Guard Directorate of Tajikistan is an agency of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) and the anniversary of the founding of Tajik Border Troops has been celebrated regularly since May 28, 1994.  This annual event is known as the Border Guards Day.
