DUSHANBE, July 3, 2014, Asia-Plus  — Tajik national carrier, Tajik Air, has increased the number of flights to the Russian cities of Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and St. Petersburg.

Since June 24, Tajik Air has reportedly operated two flights a week to Novosibirsk – on Tuesdays and Saturdays.  A ticket for this flight costs 180 Euros.

Tajik Air has also operated twice-weekly service to Yekaterinburg since July 1.  The flight is operated on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a ticket for the Dushanbe-Yekaterinburg flight costs 240 Euros.  

Tajik Air is expected to start twice-weekly service to St. Petersburg beginning on July 9.  The flight will be operated on Wednesdays and Saturdays and a ticket for this flight will cost 240 Euros.

Tajik Air (Tajikistan Airlines) is the national airline of Tajikistan.  The airline has its main hub at the Dushanbe airport, and it retains a secondary focus point at the Khujand airport.  The company started operations on September 3, 1924 as Tajik Aviation. Its first route was Bukhara to Dushanbe, served by Junkers F-13 aircraft.  It is the sixth oldest airline still in operation.

Tajik Air now serves the following destinations: China (Urumqi); Iran (Tehran, Mashhad); Kazakhstan (Almaty); Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek); Russia (Irkutsk, Moscow, Novosibirsk, St Petersburg, Samara, Sochi, Surgut, and Yekaterinburg); Tajikistan (Khorog and Khujand); and United Arab Emirates (Sharjah).
