DUSHANBE, October 30, 2014, Asia-Plus — More than 1,200 delegates from all regions of Tajikistan will participate in the 12th congress of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that will take place at the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex in Dushanbe on December 13, 2014.

“The congress will review the results of the past twenty years’ work,” Usmon Soliyev, the head of the PDP public relations department, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, they are currently discussing the issue of inviting delegations of ruling parties of a number of countries to attend the PDP congress.

Founded in 1994, the People’s Democratic Party is the largest political party in Tajikistan, boasting some 250,000 registered members.  President Emomali Rahmon is chairman of the party.  The PDP controls more than 60 percent of the seats in the current parliament.
