DUSHANBE, October 30, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday signed the RT Law “On Amnesty.”

The 2014 amnesty is expected to lead to the release of thousands of convicts.

President Emomali Rahmon proposed the amnesty to mark the 20th anniversary of the adoption of Tajikistan”s post-Soviet constitution on November 6, 1994 and Tajikistan’s lower chamber (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament passed the law on October 29.

The full text of the law will be published in state-run newspapers within the next few days.
