DUSHANBE, November 27, 2014, Asia-Plus — Tajik opposition activist has been wounded in Moscow.

The Moscow police department says unidentified assailants attacked Maqsoud Ibrohimov, the leader of the Moscow-based organization “The Youth of Tajikistan for the Revival of Tajikistan,” in Moscow yesterday night at around 10:50 pm.

Ibrohimov, who sustained both a gunshot wound and a stab wound, is currently in hospital and his health condition is assessed as serious.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted and police are searching for the assailants, the Moscow police department press center says.

Maqsoud Ibrohimov is also the member of the Board of the Opposition Coalition “New Tajikistan.”

Ibrohimov is reportedly on a blacklist of Tajik authorities for organization of demonstrations of Tajik migrant workers in various Russian cities demanding resignation of the Tajik leadership.

A statement released by the Opposition Coalition “New Tajikistan,” in particular, notes that there have been numerous threats against Maqsoud Ibrohimov and Tajik special services have made pressure on members of his family in Tajikistan.  The Tajik authorities have placed him on an internationally wanted list, the statement says.
