DUSHANBE, June 23, 2008, Asia-Plus — The second (interim) three-day seminar for students of the School for Municipal Surveys and Technologies Project on basics of local governance, research and analytical work opened in Dushanbe today, according to the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF) – OSI/AF-TB.
Ms. Rukhshona Olimova, PR-specialist at the OSI/AF-TB, said that the project is being implemented by the Local Governance Program of the OSI/AF-TB. The seminar participants include young specialists and students. Experts from Kyrgyzstan’s Center for Public Technologies have been invited to conduct the seminar.
According to her, “the main objective of the project is to lay foundation for improvement of quality of technological training of specialists in the field of management for local governance bodies and carrying out expert and analytical works.
The projects has worked since January and students have been competitively selected from all regions of the country.
Today’s interim seminar is the third stage of training of students and surveys conducted within the framework of the given subjects will be presented and discussed during the seminar, Olimova said.
The first stage included an enlarged training on basics of local governance, research and analytical work with participation of trainers from Russia’s Institute for Small Cities of Russia and Kyrgyzstan’s Center for Public Technologies.
The second stage was aimed at consolidating theoretical knowledge got during the first training and included undergoing practical training in local governance’s bodies.
